Loud or poised. Then and now

There are a few things that we don't really value when we are younger. This is not to say that I'm writing this with the mindset that I'm OLD and looking back at young me, but rather I'm more mature and just looking back at immature me.

Do you remember how you would get home from school and refuse to go have a shower. Maybe run around with your mother, father, grandmother, grandfather, maid, dog, cat chasing you around the dining table in the hope you run into the bathroom and come out clean. I'm sure you do! Well, now don't you just love the water and the soap and the shampoo and the bath salts and bubbles and being clean and fresh scented all the time.

Then - A diet rich in green leafy vegetables. Gross!
Now - "I would like a Chicken Teriyaki sub with brown bread and lots of lettuce and lots of olives...lots of veggies"

I would have scoffed at the idea of tea being a good buddy of mine a decade ago. But, tea super cedes all other drinks today. The fancy for drinks colored and flavored and fizzy has well...fizzled out and the 'dirty brown' colored liquid that only 'old' people usually drank is now my elixir. Morning, noon and night.

There are a few things that we probably don't give attention to as part of being stupid and immature, but now we turn and invariably have a closer look at...furniture, quality and quantity, fat content, pedicures, prices, the economy, wine, designated drivers, words like - elegance and class and lovely!

So yes, some things are viewed differently and some are just packaged to suit a more wiser and mature you...but some things don't really change. No matter how mature, how much older or how ever wiser
 I may perceive myself or the things around me to be - happy meal toys, twinkle lights, birthdays, Shahrukh Khan, and cake will still knock the air out of me and make the stars shine brighter!

Like this Blueberry Cake.

350gms Unsalted butter
13/4 cups sugar
6 eggs
1tsp vanilla extract
31/2 cups flours
2 1/2 tbsp baking powder
1 cup sour cream
3 tbsp milk
1 cup blueberries

Preheat the oven to 170degrees Celsius.
Mix the butter and sugar in a mixer till it gets light and fluffy. Add the eggs one at a time, mixing well with each addition.
Then beat in the vanilla, flour and baking powder until well mixed. Add the sour cream and milk and mix until the batter is light. Gently stir in the blueberries.
Pour the batter in a mould and bake for around 40 minutes.

When the cake is cold you can ice it with cream cheese or butter cream icing. What I did was a simple lemon glaze like this one http://www.marthastewart.com/313152/lemon-glaze

So for all of you wise, elegant, mature people have yourself a slice of this with some tea.
